- Prepare 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
I ended up trying it and think it is the best potato salad I have ever had it was so good I had seconds and I HATE potato salad!!! Add potatoes, celery, onion and eggs and toss gently. This old-fashioned potato salad recipe doesn't have many ingredients, so it isn't as colorful as many that you find nowadays. But Mama made it the way her mother did, and that's the way I still make it today.
Instructions to make Momma’s Tater Salad:
- Chop potatoes bite size, boil with teaspoon salt until fork tender, not mushy
- In a bowl add chopped eggs, celery,onions, pickles, mix, add pepper paprika, garlic and onion powder, fold in mayonnaise, pickle juice, mustard
- After potatoes are done drain and cool when cool put in big bowl and fold in mayonnaise mixture
- Sprinkle paprika on top and chill couple hours or over night
My mama's potato salad is one of those delicious side dishes that goes with almost any meal. I also like the fact that you can serve it year-round, not just at a holiday dinner. We eat this during summer picnics, at Thanksgiving, and any other time we feel like it. That's what makes it the perfect side dish.
